#1 Beer in the World! Did you know Santa Rosa is a BEER MECCA?
Yes, we are known for wine, art, cycling and food…after all we are rated a Top Foodie City! But, did you know we now are a beer mecca? Where else are you going to find the Worlds #1 Beer? Only in my town…Santa Rosa. Beer Advocates announced that Santa Rosa’s Russian River Brewery “Pliny the Younger” World’s Best Beer.

Not sure if you all recollect when Pliny the Younger was released. I do! The lines were crazy, the release lasted for two weeks only. People wrapped themselves around the street waiting for upwards to three hours to get their growler filled. While I did not wait in line, my husband did and I can say it was well worth it. On any given day there was several hundred people, some that travelled as far as Australia and Belgium to get a taste, check out this video clip…IMG_0441
We had friends travel up from San Francisco, leaving at 5:00 am to be one of the first in line! But, don’d fret, while you cannot get Pliny the Younger, you can still get it’s older brother…Pliny theElder throughout the year. It offers up a nice hoppy, nutty flavor that can be brought home in a growler too.
Third Street Ale Works received a Gold Medal in the 2012 Brewers Association World Beer Cup with their Annadel Pale Ale and the Blarney Sisters Dry Irish Stout.
